About the breast implant removal procedure
The implants, which sit either directly under the breast tissue or deeper behind the muscle are removed through previous scars underneath the breasts or around the areola. Depending on the exact type of surgery you have, further surgery such as a breast uplift may be desired following the implant removal and / or replacement.
The operation normally lasts 1-2 hours, and is carried out under general anaesthetic, which means you will be asleep during the procedure. You will usually stay in hospital for one night and will need to plan time off work so that you can recover at home. You will also need to wear a special supportive bra in the first few weeks after surgery.
As with any cosmetic procedure, it is important that you review your expectations thoroughly before you decide to proceed.
